DNR seeks public input on wolf hunt

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State wildlife officials are looking for public input on a draft rule setting up Wisconsin’s new wolf hunt.

The Department of Natural Resources is planning four public meetings on the rule around the state this month. The first is set for Wednesday in Spooner, with others to follow Friday in Black River Falls, June 14 in Fond du Lac and June 15 in Rhinelander.

The meetings will begin with an open house with DNR staff followed by staff presentations and time for questions and comments.

State lawmakers passed a bill earlier this year calling for a wolf hunt. The DNR is currently developing an emergency rule setting up the details and logistics. The Natural Resources Board expects to take up the measure at a meeting July 17 in Stevens Point.
