ID: Protesters oppose state wolf policy

Protesters gathered at the Statehouse today, voicing their anger against Governor Otter’s push to reduce wolf populations in Idaho.

Fifteen people stood outside the Capitol building and tried to get an audience with Otter inside. They said the wolf trapping was inhumane, and the governor’s estimation of wolves in Idaho was incredibly high. The protesters said the wolf was a part of American history since before Europeans colonized, and the trapping is just more animosity toward misunderstood animals

“I asked Governor Otter what is the problem with them being here and he said well, we don’t want them here and if you people knew what it was like to live with 12,000 wolves you wouldn’t want them either,” said Clarisa Damron with “Wolf and Wildlife Action Group.”

The Governor has allocated $400,000 to create a board to manage the wolf populations.
