Experience the Great Outdoors

Wisconsinites have a special wildlife resource right at their doorstep. It’s called the Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center and it’s open to all residents interested in learning about wildlife related recreation. Opportunities abound in such areas as photography, hunting, tracking, cooking and orienteering. Workshops and educational tours are offered.

The Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center is centrally located. You will find the 9,000 acre Sandhill Wildlife Area 20 miles west of Wisconsin Rapids on Highway X west of Babcock. It is perhaps best known for its population of sandhill cranes. Buffalo, deer, owls, hawks and many other birds and mammals also inhabit this area.
