Events of the January and April Board of Directors meetings bring several items to report.
Due to the increasing success of TWIN’s Wolf Study Lab Box (secondary level), which is rented for one week by educators and contains 12 different hands-on lab activities about wolves and their food web, TWIN is happy to announce the completion of the Wolf Study Lab Box for elementary education. This new lab box is ready and can also be rented for one week. TWIN is currently developing an advertising brochure, but interested educators can write for more information.
With many requests over several years, TWIN has developed and will be offering a Family Winter Wolf Workshop during the 1998 workshop season at Treehaven in Tomahawk, WI. Parents will be provided with a complete adult educational workshop while their children will be learning about wolves through numerous hands-on activities with TWIN’s children workshop committee. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to experience the world of the wolf in a great northern setting such as Treehaven. Keep your eyes out for advertisements and registration materials this coming fall. This workshop will undoubtedly fill quickly.
If you haven’t checked out TWIN’s web site, you won’t believe what you are missing. I would like to take this time to thank Jason Warzinik (coordinator and designer) for his hours of time and effort to make this a reality for TWIN. TWIN’s mission to educate the world about the role of wolf in the environment is now possible on an international level, and we have Jason to thank for it. Exceptional work! Must see! So start surfing!
The Board voted to purchase a first aid kit with all the emergency supplies that would be needed during field winter workshops. This kit, along with a cooler of drinking water, will be carried in a secondary emergency vehicle to be used in case of illness while in the field. This idea was generated through a discussion on how to improve the comfort and safety of participants during this somewhat physical component of our winter workshops.
I would like to take this time to invite our membership to the next board meeting which will be held on Saturday, July 26, 10:00 am, at the Schmeeckle Reserve in Stevens Point.
