Events of the Board of Directors meeting on July 26, 1997, bring several items to report:
TWIN Board Member Lorrie Barber just completed a tour of selected state parks near existing wolf packs in Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan. She distributed TWIN information/program materials and made contacts for future correspondence with these parks. TWIN thanks Lorrie for her dedication and many miles of driving to help increase awareness and understanding of wolves. Keep your eyes open for our TWIN materials the next time you visit a state park.
To uphold the quality of future TWIN program facilitators and presenters, the board has decided to develop a training program in which active members can become a board-approved representative for the organization. The details of the program have not been finalized, but the board’s intention is to develop dynamic and competent individuals who have a great amount of background knowledge and field experience to speak for the continued survival of wolves in the wild.
TWIN is currently developing a Wolf Art Competition for 1998. Look for more information in upcoming issues of Lobo Lingo.
Due to the cost effectiveness of the TWIN sales catalog, The Northern Howl, the Board decided to drop its printing except for special events. The catalog is currently on-line as part of the TWIN internet page where interested individuals can still order items. Check the web page at:

The 1998 TWIN Wolf Workshops have been set for January 9-11, February 6-8 and March 6-8, 1998. TWIN is also very happy to announce the first Family Wolf Workshop on April 3-5, 1998. Parents will be participating in a regular adult workshop while the children will be off with TWIN teachers participating in their own program for their level of understanding. All outdoor field experiences will be conducted with parents and children together. All workshops fill extremely quickly and there is usually a waiting list, so don’t hesitate to call Treehaven at 715-453-4106 for reservations and pricing information. Hope to see you there.
The TWIN web site continues to reach people all over the world. The site received over 30,000 hits per month and has reached 38 different countries from Brazil to Belgium. TWIN members are also developing a multimedia program about wolves on CD-ROM. TWIN thanks Jason Warzinik for his constant effort to keep our web site functioning.
Hope to see you all at the TWIN annual meeting held the weekend of October 10-12, 1997, at Pigeon Lake Field Station in Drummond, WI.
