MN: Field reports: Tallies rise in wolf seasons

As of midday Friday, 69 wolves had been taken in Minnesota’s late-season hunting and trapping season. A total of 29 had been taken in the Northeast Wolf Zone, where the target harvest is 56. In the Northwest Wolf Zone, 36 wolves had been taken. The quota is 187. A total of four wolves have been taken in the East-Central Wolf Zone, where the quota is 10.

The season began Nov. 24 and will continue until Jan. 31 or until target harvest levels are reached.

In Wisconsin, as of Thursday, a total of 104 wolves have been taken by hunting or trapping. Wisconsin’s wolf hunting and trapping season opened Oct. 15 and will continue through Feb. 28 or until the harvest quota of 116 is reached. Several zones have been closed to hunting and trapping after quotas were reached.
