MN: Wolf Depredation Compensation Meetings

If you keep livestock, at some point, you will likely end up with some deadstock. If that deadstock comes at the hand of a predator, there is a process in which you can be compensated for your losses.

Meetings are scheduled at four Northern Minnesota locations to offer greater detail on the programs. Following are the details provided by the Farm Service Agency.

Minnesota producers are encouraged to attend upcoming meetings hosted by Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) to learn more about the livestock compensation programs that are available to assist producers who have suffered losses due to wolf depredation.

MDA offers a wolf depredation program that compensates farmers and ranchers for livestock losses due to wolves. FSA’s Livestock Indemnity Program compensates producers for livestock losses due to weather, wolves and avian predators. These informational meetings will provide overview and comparison of both available programs. Attendees will also be given information on the record-keeping expectations and claims processes for the two programs.

Representatives from several state and federal organizations will be in attendance, including MDA, FSA, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The meetings are scheduled to take place in the following locations:
