HELENA, MT – Effective at sunset tonight (Thursday), Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks ordered the end of wolf hunting in a small area immediately north of Yellowstone Park because hunters reached the quota of three wolves.
Officially, it’s subunit 313-316 of wolf management unit 390. With 11 days to go in the wolf archery season, hunters took 11 animals of the statewide 63 wolf quota.
The general big game rifle season begins Oct.23. Montana has an overall wolf quota of 220 wolves.
