NC: Reward offered in third red wolf death

CRESWELL, N.C. — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information about the death of a red wolf.

The red wolf, which is protected under the Endangered Species Act, was found shot dead north of Creswell on Nov. 2. This is the third red wolf found dead recently.

The unlawful taking of a red wolf is punishable by one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Anyone with information on the death of any of the red wolves is asked to call 919-856-4786, 252-216-7504 or 252-216-8225.
