The County Board has on its own initiative the culling of a wolf in parts of Forshaga and Karlstad municipalities.
In mid-June, a group of heifers were frightened from their paddock by a wolf in Hasselbol outside Forshaga. Several incidents involving a wolf have subsequently occurred in the area and a wolf has repeatedly shown interest in cattle.
The County Board is now assessed that there is a “particularly malicious individual.” Culling of a wolf in this area does not hinder the maintenance of favorable conservation status, writes the provincial government in a press release.
The decision on culling apply for a wolf during the period from and including 13 September to 30 September in 2014.
