SE: Extended culling of wolves investigated

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

HUNTING / TT

The government wants to know if the culling of wolves can be extended. The Environmental Protection Agency has therefore been instructed to investigate the extent to which culling can be used for more wolves in the pack than the individual who attacked domestic animals. The Agency shall also consider the possibility to shoot wolves that come close to domestic animals.

The government decided on the investigation on June 25, a week after the EU Commission again warned Sweden that licensed hunting of wolves is permitted under the EU’s Habitats Directive, writes Jakt & Jägare.

The Environmental Protection Agency should report to the Government by 30 September.
