Reimbursement for domestic animals attacked by wolves and lynx has increased at a record pace in Värmland in recent years. So far this year the provincial government paid 646,000 kronor compared with 30,000 two years ago, writes Värmland Folkblad.

“It’s a bit special this year. We have had very many and several very big attacks. We have even received the requests for more money to be able to pay out all benefits,” says Kari Langöen, wildlife officers at the provincial government, told the newspaper.

Among other things, 128 000 kronor and 120 000 kronor was paid for two wolf attacks on sheep where a total of 40 animals were killed.
