Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

UPPSALA / TT

An increasing number of domestic animals in Sweden are attacked by wolves, according to statistics from the Game injury center at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

“It is clear that we have more wolves in domestic dense areas”, says Inga Ängsteg, operations manager.

Last year (2011) attacked nearly 800 domestic carnivores. Wolves accounted for attacks on some 450 animals, most of the sheep.

The Game injury claims center has compiled statistics since 1997, when the wolves attacked fewer than 50 domestic animals.
