About 20 sheep and a dog have been killed by wolves in the Kroppefjäll territory in Västra Götaland. But it is not enough to allow culling the provincial government believes.
The LRF in Uddevalla is denied a request to hunt wolves in the border area of Mellerud, Vanersborg, Färgelanda and Bengtsfors municipalities.
“There are some who suggest that culling will not lead to attacks on sheep decreasing,” the provincial government writes in its decision and warrants that if a wolf is shot the rest of the pack may seek out easier prey and attack domestic animals thus the risk of attack increases.
