WOLF HUNTING / TT STT
Twelve wolves have been shot in Finland during the first four days of hunting. The license to trap nineteen animals has been issued until the middle of March.
The Finnish Wildlife Agency granted a total of twenty-four exemptions for wolf hunting, which the center takes place in the critical population areas. Five of the waivers were withdrawn, however, by administrative courts in Hämeenlinna and Turku.
The country’s wolf population has grown and is expected to comprise 220 animals, compared with 140 a year ago. The largest increase occurred in eastern Finland.
