SE: Wolf killed fifteen sheep in Vittsjo

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

MALMÖ / TT

Fifteen sheep lost their lives and three were injured after a suspected wolf attack the night of Friday on a group of animals outside Vittsjo in northern Skåne.

“A newspaper deliverer discovered that there were fewer sheep in the pasture than usual and drew the attention of the owner,” says Krister Henriksson, the examiner on the county Board of Skåne.

He is absolutely sure that it is a wolf even if he would not be at the provincial government because the damage to the sheep suggested it.

Krister Henriksson:

“There are strong attacks to the necks. Few dogs can do this, but in all probability it is a wolf. We also know that a male wolf was in the area in early July, and we get reports every week from people who have seen wolves in the area.”

The County Board now offers the sheep owner to review their fences of the pastures where sheep graze.
