SE: Wolf shot in Skåne – investigated as a hunting crime

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

A wolf has been shot in Osby municipality in Skåne and the hunter, who sat at a cleared area in connection with another hunt, then alerted the police. The hunter states that he perceived the animal as a fox, writes the police on its website.

The wolf was taken at nine o’clock on Thursday morning. The hunter is suspected of gross crimes against the hunting law and weapons have been seized.

Predator handler Nils Carlsson, from the county administrative board in Skåne, has been in place.

“I can confirm that there is an older male wolf that has been shot. We are awaiting the police investigation and do not comment on further details at this time,” he said in a press release.

The wolf should be later necropsied.

” It is located in the County Council’s freezer box,” says Christer Henriksson, predatory animal officer at the county administrative board in Skåne, to SVT Nyheter Skåne.

He believes that the wolf will be sent to the State Veterinary Office (SVA) next week.
