WI: Great Lakes wolf summit speakers announced

A conference on wolves, organized by a local legislator, has named its presenters.

Earlier this year, Senator Tom Tiffany, along with Representative Adam Jarchow, announced plans for the Great Lakes Wolf Summit. Their goal is to return control of wolves back to the states. Last month, a DNR study estimated the wolf population at just under 900 animals.

Yesterday the two legislators announced that author and attorney Ted Lyon will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Lyon penned a study on the wolf impact of large game animals and livestock called The Real Wolf.

Other presenters include USDA Wildlife Services biologist David Ruid and Don Peay, the founder of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife.

The Summit will take place September 15th in Cumberland, Wis. They also announced yesterday that registration is now open.
