WI: Only Nine Wolves Left to Fill 2014 Hunting Quota

Wisconsin Ag Connection

It appears that hunters and trappers will once again meet their wolf harvest quotas early this year.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says hunters have killed 141 wolves as of this week. Only 150 animals are allowed to be hunted in this year’s wolf season.

The season began about a month ago and runs through the end of February or until hunters reach the quota.

The quota was set with the intention of continuing to reduce the state’s wolf population in accordance with the goals identified in the wolf management plan.
