Article by: Associated Press

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin wildlife officials are poised to close the first of six wolf hunting zones less than four days after the season began.

The Department of Natural Resources’ website showed Friday morning that hunters had taken 12 wolves in far northeastern Wisconsin’s Zone 2. The kill limit for that zone is 15. The DNR says the zone will close at noon on Saturday.

The wolf season began Wednesday. The DNR has set a statewide kill limit of 150 animals. The agency’s website showed Friday that hunters had killed 28 animals across all zones, leaving 122 animals to go.
