About the event
About the event
TWIN is expanding its educational role into a summer opportunity focused on wildlife tracking. While our primary objective will still be focused on wolves and other carnivores, we will investigate all species common in the Jackson & Clark county forests. Besides wolves, bears and coyotes, we will seek out elk, deer, fisher, fox, bobcat, and other small mammals. Sandy stretches of forest roads are ideal for tracking and detecting other signs of this wildlife. We will look at their habits and range, track morphology, learn about varying gaits and strides and accurate track measurements. We will explore a wide array of habitat types in the area including pine barrens, aspen regeneration, white and red pine stands and oak forest.
This clinic is designed to have participants engaged in seeking out and observing tracks and the variety of wildlife signs here in the Central Forest Region of Wisconsin.…
