Electrical vests can protect hunting dogs from wolves. Beginning this year, hunters may also seek financial assistance of the provincial government to buy protective gear for their dogs.
In connection with the moose hunt which now continues in southern and central Sweden, the risk of dogs being attacked by wolves continues. Over the past three years, 20 hunting dogs were killed by wolves just in Värmland, writes Värmland’s Folkblad.
New this year is that hunters are eligible for protection vests for dogs. According Lennart Johansson at the county administrative delegation for game management there are two types of jackets to use.
“A wolf vest is a classic vest and an electrical vest that gives the wolf a shock when it bites,” says Lennart Johansson, VF.
