Animal Believed to be Gray Wolf Found Dead in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A gray wolf may have been found in northern Utah.

The U-S Fish and Wildlife service says an animal believed to be a gray wolf was found dead in a coyote trap in Box Elder County earlier this week.

The wolf appears to be a three-year-old male. Tests are being conducted to confirm that the animal is a wolf, where it came from and what caused its death.

Wildlife officials believe the animal could have come to Utah from the Yellowstone National Park area.

Wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone and central Idaho in 1995 and 1996.

A gray wolf was captured by a hunter near Morgan in December of 2002. That wolf was returned to the Yellowstone park area.
