AZ: Pricey dinner on wild side benefits wolves

A very fancy dinner out at a remote wildlife refuge could help safeguard one of the most endangered mammals in North America.

Dinner with Wolves, scheduled for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, will raise money to help protect Mexican gray wolves, who number only about 85 in the wild.

During cocktail hour, guests will take guided tours of the center and see resident wolves, along with bears, mountain lions and leopards. A silent auction, sit-down dinner and presentation by Defenders of Wildlife follows.

The Mexican gray wolf is the most endangered wolf in the world. About half of the entire wild population lives in Arizona.

Only 88 seats are available for Dinner With Wolves. Tickets are $275 and can be purchased DinnerWithWolves.com. Proceeds will benefit Defenders of Wildlife and Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center.
