Canine attack in Iron County under review

IRON RIVER — A canine attack in Mineral Hills on Dec. 12 is still under
investigation, authorities said.

Iron County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a canine attack call
from the Andrew Carlson family at approximately 7 p.m. on Dec. 12.
Carlson, 26, said he was bitten by a large black canine animal. Carlson
believes the animal to be a wolf.

Iron County Sheriff’s Department officers and officers from the Michigan
Department of Natural Resources are continuing their investigation.
Carlson is recovering from his injuries and is doing fine, family members said
today. There have been no signs of the animal since the attack, family members
said.

An initial report of the incident indicated that the animal was a large black
dog. The Daily News on Saturday incorrectly said that the initial report was a
final report.

The incident remains under investigation.
