Bear hunters are asked to avoid areas where dogs have been killed by wolves and stay clear of private property.
Wildlife Services confirmed four more bear hounds were killed by wolves in the last few days, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Bear hounds have been killed in Iron, Lincoln, Sawyer and Bayfield counties. In all, 20 hounds have been depredated this training and hunting season.
In addition, wolves injured a St. Bernard Sept. 3 in Douglas County , a pet dog July 25 in Oneida County and a rat terrier was killed June 3 in Ashland County.

In addition, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has received a number of calls reporting bear hunters trespassing on private property. Hunters found running their dogs on private property could be cited for dogs running at large or trespassing costing $175 for the dog citation and $350 for trespassing.
