FWP holds public meetings on wolf EIS

Five public work sessions have been scheduled in southwestern Montana to discuss the Wolf Environmental Impact Statement developed by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

The purpose of the EIS is to decide how wolves will be managed when the state assumes management responsibilities for the species.

The meetings will begin with a work session from 6:30 to 7 p.m. followed by introductions and a short presentation. There will be a time for comments from participants.

The meeting locations and dates are as follows:

  • Bozeman: April 14-Holiday Inn;
  • Gardiner: April 15-Gardiner High School;
  • Dillon: April 16-Western Montana College, Mathews Hall;
  • Butte: April 16-Red Lion Inn;
  • Ennis: April 17-Ennis High School gymnasium.

Copies of the Draft EIS can be requested by calling 444-2612. Comments on the draft can be made at www.fwp.state.mt.us by clicking on Wolf Management in the Hot Topics box, or by writing to Wolf Plan EIS, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, 490 N. Meridian Road, Kallispell, 59901. Comments will be accepted through May 12.
