FWP plans wolf sessions

FWP plans wolf sessions

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host community work sessions in March and April to gather comment on five proposals for wolf conservation and management outlined in the agency’s recently released draft environmental impact statement.

FWP will select one of the alternatives or craft a new alternative that combines elements of the others based on public comment to manage the state’s soon-to-be recovered wolf population.

Each session will begin with an open house from 6:30 to 7 p.m. followed by introductions and a presentation. The community work sessions are designed to obtain comment from all participants. Opportunities for questions and answers will follow the work session.

The sessions are set for 6:30 to 9 p.m. in:

Billings: March 27, Billings Convention Center, 1223 Mullowney Lane.

Bozeman: April 14, Holiday Inn, 5 Baxter Lane.

Ennis: April 17, High school gym, 323 S. Charles.

Gardiner: April 15, Gardiner High gym, 510 Stone St.

Glasgow: April 1, Cottonwood Inn, 45 First Ave. N.E.

Work session participants are encouraged to examine the alternatives beforehand. Comments will be taken by FWP in an informal setting where participants can exchange comments with other community members. In addition, mail-in and online comments will be accepted through May 12.
