A dog is let out of the house and killed by wolves.
A cow was killed by a pack of wolves as she is giving birth to a calf.
These are some of the instances in Michigan when wolves have killed or injured animals in the Upper Peninsula.
Here is a searchable database of all the verified wolf attacks in Michigan from 1996 through September 2013. The reports are limited to the Upper Peninsula because that is where wolves dwell.
The data comes from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. This is the first time the data has been published.
How to use the database
Start by selecting which county you want to search for. You can limit individual counties or you can also see all the locations by selecting “all” at the top.
Below that will appear a prompt to chose if you want to limit the search to dogs or livestock, the two categories of animals injured or killed by wolves. You can see both by clicking “both” at the top.
In the bottom box, you will see the specific breeds of animals that were injured or killed. There’s a lot of them: from calfs to chihuahuas. Some of the dogs do not have specified breeds.

When everything is selected, hit “search.”
On the results page, you will see six columns: the date the attack happened, in which county it occurred, the type of animal and it’s specific species, as well is the total number of animals killed or injured.
When you hit the details link in the last row, you will see the comments on the specific attack as well as the total payment made to the farmer as a reimbursement.
Note that the comments are not edited, but from the actual reports.
