Wolves have almost disappeared on the island in Lake Superior, which is just off Minnesota’s North Shore. Because of this, the moose population is exploding. The park service hopes new wolves will restore the natural balance.
The only other place where wolves have been reintroduced by humans is Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service began reintroducing the animal to the park in 1995.
Today, wolf biologists call Yellowstone a wildlife success story.
