MT: Parents cautioned after wolf spotted near Three Forks

By Judy Slate – MTN News

THREE FORKS – A wolf sighting near Three Forks leads to a warning for parents. But how likely it is for wolves to roam that area?

The sighting was reported in the area north of Three Forks off of Highway 287 in the area of Wheatland Drive and Rolling Glenn.

Because of the sighting, the Three Forks School District posted a warning to parents in the area not to leave their kids unattended at nearby bus stops.

“Our wolf specialist says they could be found basically anywhere,” said Andrea Jones with Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

Jones said FWP has previously harvested wolves in the Three Forks area, though not this exact area.

And even though FWP has not confirmed the wolf sighting, they are still urging caution.

It is still wolf hunting season in Montana with rifles through March 15 and trapping through the end of February.
