By MTN News

BOZEMAN – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host a wolf trapper certification class in Bozeman at its Region 3 Headquarters (1400 S. 19th Ave.) on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students should register soon as spots are filling quickly.

Certification is mandatory for anyone planning to trap wolves in Montana. Trappers who have previously successfully completed a wolf trapping course in Montana or Idaho do not need to retake the course.

Classes are free, and interested students can check the schedule and register online at Follow the links to “hunter education.” Classes are also being held in Missoula (Aug. 27) and in Kalispell (Dec. 10).

In addition to specifics on equipment and techniques, participants will learn about the history, ethics, management and regulations related to wolves and wolf trapping. Region 3’s class is taught by FWP staff.
