NO: Norwegian wolf hunting stopped

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

News P4 Värmland

The Norwegian licensed hunting of wolves stopped with immediate effect, pending the processing of Norway Nature Organization’s complaint. The Norwegian Environment Department made this decision.

Twelve wolves were shot during the Norwegian licensed hunting, which began October 1. So many wolves have not been shot during hunting in Norway for 40 years and the high allocation depends in turn on if the wolf population is higher in the country than in a long time.

The hunt for wolves were allowed in seven of the country’s eight regional wild animal regions including some bordering Värmland.

A wolf has so far been shot at during the hunting license which would have been going to the end of March next year. It has not been found and the shooter has been reported to the police by the Norwegian Environment Organization.
