Oregon’s wolf population has risen to an estimated 53 animals and five breeding pairs, according to data released Wednesday by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The wolves are mostly in the northeast corner of Oregon, in seven different packs. There also are some wolves known to be living outside of packs. For more information, see: dfw.state.or.us/Wolves/population.asp
“This is great news for Oregonians who value native wildlife,” says Rob Klavins, wildlife advocate for Oregon Wild. “We may very well look back on 2012 as the year wolf recovery got back on track in Oregon.”
