SD: Attraction With Wolves Planned For SD Causes Uproar

DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) — Opponents of a planned wildlife education operation in the western South Dakota tourist town of Deadwood say they think it’s a front for a Minnesota fur farm and shouldn’t be allowed.

Fur-Ever Wild owner Terri Petter says the attraction would educate visitors about wolves, foxes, bobcats and other wild animals, and that accusations by opponents are “ridiculous.” She runs a similar operation in Lakeville, Minnesota.

Deadwood’s Planning and Zoning Commission authorized the business, saying it met zoning requirements.

The state Animal Industry Board on Wednesday will consider Petter’s application for a permit to have captive wild animals.
