Spitting and kicking llamas may become the new weapon against wolves ravaging southern Sweden’s flocks. The County Board would like to do experiments with llamas with two large flocks of sheep, both victims of wolf attacks.
Predators are afraid to get hurt, and the U.S. experience suggests that llamas are effective against coyotes and cougars. Just how good they are against the common wolf has not studied thoroughly yet.
“We expect no total protection, but fewer attacks and fewer animals damaged with every attack,” says predator officer Nils Carlsson said.
