SE: Demonstration for a clear policy concerning the wolf

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

Tonight Norwegian and Swedish hunters are assembling to require a new wolf policy, including cross-border management. The demonstration is to be held in Morokulien, on the border between Sweden and Norway, and is organized by the Norwegian Jeger- and Fiskeriforbund and Swedish Hunters Association.

Ingemar Tönnberg, Värmland chairman of the Swedish Hunters Association, is hoping for a clearer statement on wolf hunting.

“We want to get a predictable licensed hunting,” says Ingmar Tönnberg. “Nothing happens now, but if something does, it will only be stopped in the courts.”

He expects great support from the Norwegian side, and it is hoped that Swedish hunters will join in.

Several members of the Norwegian Parliament is in place but on the Swedish side it just seems to be Mikael Dahlqvist, a Social Democratic member of parliament from Hagfors. He wants to see more discussion in the wolf issue.

“A little critical, I am against my own government, I think we have a better grasp of the issue and get a viable solution,” says Mikael Dahlqvist. “But I am also critical of the other parties. Let us bury the axes and try to look for something constructive and long term.
