At noon today the first wolf was shot in the year’s licensed hunting. The animal fell, in the southern part of the hunting area in Dalarna, writes the County Administrative Board in Dalarna County in a press release.
There is – as usual – some confusion surrounding this year’s wolf hunt.
On Tuesday the Appeal was overturned in Sundsvall Administrative Court’s decision on the suspension, ie temporary stop, the Environmental Protection Agency’s hunting decisions, which meant that the hunt could start on Saturday in both Dalarna and Gävleborg. This while the administrative courts in Stockholm and Gothenburg told flatly no to hunting in Värmland, Västmanland and Örebro.
“I can understand if people think it seems strange that two administrative courts may come to different decisions, but each court makes an independent assessment,” said Michael Ocklind, administrative court advisor in the Appeal in Gothenburg, to the TT news agency on Wednesday.
