SE: Fourth moving of Junsele Wolf is being considered

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

STOCKHOLM / TT

It may be necessary to move the female wolf in Junsele a fourth time. The EPA is investigating whether it is possible to implement a move to the south, writes the newspaper Hunting & Hunters.

The task is confirmed by the Board game coordinator Ruona Burman. In conversations with Sami villages it has been asked if the wolf could be moved again.

“We have said that we will look at it and come back with a report,” said Burman to the newspaper.

The Administration is also investigating whether the wolf during move can be placed in enclosures for a few months before being released.

The female wolf has been moved three times before but always returned to the reindeer herding area in Junsele. The Agency announced a week ago that the wolf would be shot since it has destroyed 28 reindeer.

But on appeal the Administrative Court stopped the hunt, pending the final decision.
