“There have been an unusual number of attacks in the Högsäter area and large parts of Bohuslän and Dalsland, said trapper Gote Johansson after nine sheep were killed by wolves this weekend.
The sheep were on a farm outside Högsäter, animal owner released them on Friday morning out in a pasture and in the evening, he found four of them dead. Five more were so badly damaged that they had to be killed.
In recent weeks, the wolf may have taken sheep in Valbo-RYR, Rabbalshede and around Dals-Ed.
But why the wolf struck so many times right now is impossible to say by Gote Johansson, who nonetheless has a theory.
“An alternative is that there are relatively many flocks of sheep. Then it’s also true that we have a number of young wolves who have left their home territory and are dispersing and seek out new areas.

“We will not know until at least when the snow comes and we can start tracking.”
Can sheep owner and others with animals expect even more wolf attacks?
“Yes, experience tells you that wolves begin to take sheep feel free to continue with it, so I believe enough risk is greater in this area than before,” says trapper Gote Johansson.
