A wolf was shot Monday morning in Åstrand in Torsby Municipality. It was after a wolf attacked and killed an elkhound where the dog’s owner fired a warning shot and then shot one of the wolves that were on the site.
An inspector from the provincial government tried tracking but found no sign of any wolf which would be wounded.
The County Board said that the dog owner did not commit any crime when he shot the wolf, since hunting regulations say that pet owners can kill a predator to protect a domestic animal.
