A wolf pair that was moved from the Torne Valley to Tivedens National Park last winter, by all appearances had puppies, according to the EPA. Since the wolf couple has Finnish-Russian origin the puppies give a contribution of new genes into the inbred Swedish wolf population.
Puppies should be born in mid-May, and the County of Västra Götaland will check it at the end of June, when the family has left the wolf den.
The wolf couple moved from a reindeer herding area in the Torne Valley in late February, and a month later it was clear that the pair had established themselves near the release site.
