SE: Last winter haunts decisions on wolf hunting

The judgment of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) on last season’s canceled game will guide the Administrative Court decision on this winter’s hunt, even if the decision-making procedure been redesigned and simplified between seasons.

A year ago, the wolf hunt was up for appeals under clean group of court decisions, some of which are temporary, in different parts of the country. In some counties the hunt was conducted, elsewhere it was stopped.

This year, the decision-making process of early and comprehensive, so that the Administrative Court of Appeal in Sundsvall will consider all decisions on the licensed hunting of a total of 24 wolves in four counties after the New Year. Several wolf friendly organizations have appealed.

The Appeals Court hopes to give its ruling before Christmas. But first it wants to see the reasoning of the Supreme Court, Supreme Administrative Court, on last winter’s decisions on 26 wolves in Värmland. It is expected to provide important answers about the licensing of fundamental hunting.

“A bit complicated and unfortunate situation,” says Anders Lind of the Appeal Council for the parallel cases.

The Supreme Administrative Court has preferred Varmland as a target and are in their decision-making stage, but has not said when judgment comes.

Fact: Wolf hunt

Licensed hunting of wolves is scheduled to start January 2nd.

Four county administrative boards have resolved licensed hunting. The terms of six wolves in Dalarna, six in Gavleborg, six in Värmland and laid in an area around the border between Värmland and Örebro.

The decision was appealed, but was approved by the administrative court in Lulea.

After the new appeals will now appeal in Sundsvall give its judgment.

Hunting Regulation has been amended so that decisions from across the country decided in the courts at each level.
