The government suspended the highly criticized Committee for a sustainable wolf policy, says ATL, farmers’ business newspaper. The LRF, Sami Association, the Hunters’ Association with several other stakeholders have stated that they do not want to be included. They want to give the current policy a chance to work.
“A number of organizations would not included, therefore the government has decided to suspend the committee,” says Karl-Johan Bondesson, Press Secretary to Åsa Romson, Minister of the Environment.
The dialogue in wolf issues may instead be handled through the Environmental Protection Agency and the channels that are there. That the committee would be created was a statement made by the government earlier this year. In June it was clear that a number of strong groups would not be involved.
