SE: The wolf population may have stagnated

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

STOCKHOLM / TT

The Scandinavian wolf population seems to have stalled, at least temporarily. It appears from a report by Viltskadecenter which shows this during the winter 2011-2012. The number of wolves in Sweden and Norway is estimated at between 260 and 330, which is about as many as the previous winter.

Problems with inbreeding remains, but the situation has improved. A third of litters now have a parent who comes from Finnish-Russian immigrant wolves.
