SE: They have the wolf at their doorstep

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

A new wolf territory may have been formed in Forshaga region and CAB carnivore manager Maria Falkevik has been out in the woods and tried to track the wolf pair to get to know more about them. Meanwhile, those living within its territory are concerned.

“With certainty we do not know much more than that it is a territory marking pair. But we have collected droppings and sent for analysis. As the result, we know if it’s wolves from a nearby territory or elsewhere,” says Maria Falkevik.

How do you know all this?

“The County Administrative Board’s mission to make this inventory. And then it’s good to know as much as possible. Especially in this area, which is quite densely populated. If people are worried and in touch, we have an answer to give them.”

Annika Bohlin and Cecilia Oscarsson live in Hösserud, southeast of Forshaga, in the middle of what is believed to be the new wolf territory. Both have horses, and the last month has horses behaved very restlessly and even escaped out of their pastures, which Annika says has never happened before.

“It is terribly uncomfortable to have horses and young children and live in the middle of a wolf territory,” says Annika Bohlin, who is careful to point out that she has nothing against wolves in general.
