Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

ÖSTERSUND / TT Three wolves that had inhabited areas where reindeer run were killed on Wednesday.

County Administrative Board of Jämtland in early December made a decision on hunting of couple of wolves who were killed by helicopter at Klaxåsnybodarna, southwest of Rätan in Berg Municipality.

Through DNA analysis had provincial government found that wolves were not considered to be genetically valuable. The wolves have caused harm to reindeer herding and the regional authority assessment had no other solution than to kill them in protective hunting.

The wolves killed were a female that weighed about 35 pounds and a male that weighed about 45 pounds.

Hunters who the Provincial Office in Jämtland hired then killed another wolf during culling on Wednesday. The wolf killed was a male who inhabited a territory west of Svenstavik in an area that is a winter grazing area for Tåssåsens Sami.

The male weighing 40 kg was shot from a helicopter at Flåsjön in Berg Municipality.
