SE: Wolf attack in Kil mystifies

Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

The wolf attack on alpaca animals in Kil earlier in the week took place despite the fact that the owner had a predator fence which is considered adequate. A fence that he also fully paid for himself because he was told by the County Board that there was no assistance funding available. Sven Persson, who is the owner of the animals, feels dejected.

“We have five electrified wires of which the bottom should be between 10 and 15 centimeters above the ground,” says Sven Persson. But it does still does not seem to have helped.

Lasse Larsson, the county government’s nature specialist who explored the area, also thought about how the wolf could have made their way into the field.

“It(the fence) looks very good,” says Lasse Larsson. It is about where the wolf might have found some place where he crawled under the electrical wire.

But despite what Sven Persson says about a few years ago when he was told by the County Administrative Board that there is no money budgeted to predator fence in the area that today there is money available says the County government’s carnivore manager Maria Falkevik.

“We just kept on sending out information about it here and it applies generally to all goat and sheep owner in the county of Värmland. Then there are of course others who are also eligible to get the money for predator fence.”

Sven Persson will now be put up night lighting and he continues to feed the animals at night with the help of volunteers. The remaining alpacas have become very shy.
