A sheep farmer outside Lönsboda in northeastern Skåne lost five animals as a wolf got into the sheep pasture on Sunday night.
In the morning, the farm’s owner found three of his sheep dead and two maimed so badly that they had to undergo emergency slaughter, reports the Norra Skåne.
County Administrator Board surveyor and trapper Le Carlsson confirms that the sheep were attacked by a wolf: This can be seen in the sharp bite marks and tracks from the wolf’s paws on the ground.
Although the wolf is much more common in northern Sweden attacks may happen most commonly in Skåne. The wolves killed 75 sheep and injured 47 last year.
