Roughly translated by TWIN Observer

ÖSTERSUND / TT

A wolf who wandered near a school in Söderbärke in Smedjebackens municipality is to be shot. The County Administrative Board of Dalarna has on its own initiative decided to have a protective hunt of the wolf, which has been unusually agressive despite attempts to scare it away.

The County Administration notes that the animal has an unusual behavior. The wolf is expected eventually to be a problem and that is the motive behind the protective hunting. It may last until November 20.

Today it became known that a young male wolf has been shot in Härjedalen during a protective hunt.

The County Administrative Board of Jämtland has granted hunting of wolves as shown in the area where the Ruvhten Sijte sami village has their reindeer.

CAB nature watchers trapped a wolf at Kolåsen, about 25 kilometers west of Lofsdalen. The wolf is of Scandinavian origin and are not considered genetically valuable to the Swedish wolf population.
